Eagle

Named for the large number of bald eagles that perched on what is now Eagle Island State Park, Eagle has long been a refuge for people who want to live closer to nature. The town didn’t incorporate until 1971, and despite its rapid growth — from a little over 350 people then to nearly 20,000 now — it still retains its small-town character and charm.

Today, Eagle combines upscale living with outdoor accessibility. It’s home to a number of Idaho’s finest restaurants, great shopping, and some of Idaho’s newest homes. Much of Eagle’s housing construction is fairly recent (or even in the works), making it a perfect place for families that would like room to stretch out and play. The Boise River meanders through the lower part of town, and in the summer the state park is a popular place for families to explore and try out its waterslide or cool off at the beach.
